Pickett CCC Memorial State Park was the first park in the southeast to be named a Dark Sky Viewing Area. At the parking lot for the Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area on Highway 154, stargazing is available year-round at an astronomy field.
Visit Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park and Bunkum Cave. Due to his role in establishing the United Nations, Tennessee statesman Cordell Hull won a Nobel prize. You can hike to Bunkum Cave from the park. The trail is especially scenic, with wildflowers between March and May.
