Why not ride the Mount Hood Railroad through Oregon's idyllic landscapes? The ride winds through the foothills of Mount Hood towards Parkdale. Enjoy sublime views as you glide through the leafy environs, past orchards, vineyards, and woods. Alternatively, travel back in time on the Iron Horse train, where trained actors recreate an Old West hold-up before your eyes. Prepare for the intervention of the heroic sheriff and plenty of jigging and old-fashioned entertainment.
Alternatively, visit Koberg Beach State Recreation Site, where you'll find the Hood River County Museum. Between 1915 and 1950, the site was used as an outdoor resort, complete with a dance hall. It was demolished due to rising river levels when the hydroelectric dams were instated. You can still almost hear the echo of the swing bands on the beach.
