Riga is an easily navigable city with brilliant public transport, where the trams, buses and trolleybuses are served by a unified e-ticketing system. The city’s Old Town will be of particular interest to you as a cultural visitor. It’s a gorgeous cobblestone area with beautiful traditional architecture and many of the city’s best restaurants.
The Wagner Concert Hall is also worth a visit if only to marvel at its gorgeous exterior. It features gilded door and window frames reminiscent of an era of luxury and artistic appreciation. It was frequented by the eponymous composer himself and hosts regular classical music performances.
The Latvian National Museum of Art and the historic Museum of the Occupation of Latvia are not to be missed. More eclectic are the Riga Motor Museum, with many classical vehicles on display, and the entertaining Riga Film Museum.
